Light bulbs were just a warning sign

Even after it has passed I still get a lot of emails from readers dumbfounded readers who are in such disbelief that Congress was even trying to pass off on Americans even more socialized medicine than we already have.  They are so shocked that not only had Congress rammed this abridgement of our liberties down our throats, and if you think that forcing Americans to either buy insurance to cover their health care or paying for others to do so is not an infringement of our liberties you haven't thought too much, but absolutely astonished that the left would even have attempted such an act in the first place.  Yeah, well, I have just two words for you; light bulbs.

Yes, light bulbs you brain dead fools.  Those words are directed especially at those of you who email me astonished at this act and even admit to having voted for Obama believing that he would never support such things.  And why do I say light bulbs you ask?  Well, because light bulbs were just a warning sign that the insane, power hungry liberals were already inside the gates, ransacking the country and raping Lady Liberty.

In December of 2007, the liberals in Congress passed the mandate that by 2012 incandescent bulbs would be a thing of the past in favor of those cute little spiral CFLs.  And why did Congress do this you ask?  They claimed it was to help save energy but the facts are that this mandate was handed down because liberals wanted more power over the people and they really, no matter how much they protest, do not give a flying rat's left buttock about the Constitution and limited government.

Congress had allies too.  Certain businesses wanted the mandate to help push their profits and force people into buying a product that was infamous for its hideous yellow/brown light and that nearly everyone who tried them moaned about.  Worried about a mini revolt over the inferior products however these companies quickly have actually adopted a more free market attitude and upgraded their products as of late to enhance their performance.  But then of course there is the whole mercury problem ...

The point of all this that their actions with regards to light bulbs were a warning that when you elect liberals, progressives, socialists, communists, or whatever they want to be called today into office that this is what you always get!  So why the hell are you yummy brains that either voted for Obama in the last election or helped elect liberal majorities in Congress  by voting for people that don't know their butts from a hole in the ground scratching your heads over liberals doing what liberals always do?  I hear daily from "Democrats" that voted "Democrat" because they always have and their daddy and grand-daddy always had who are literally asking me where everything went wrong!  Duh!  You are the problem!

Yes, I also hear from "Republicans" too who have done nothing but vote for Teddy Roosevelt style progressive RINOs too wondering the same thing.  Seriously?  It is time to wake up you fools and stop thinking that just a little bit of socialism might be a good thing.

And it just gets worse.  Yes, I said worse.  And all because of these sorts of folks that email me complaining about liberals but who have themselves done nothing but help get them elected.  Have you heard now that liberals want to take over the marketing arms of companies?  Do not laugh.  You should know better than to doubt me when I talk about the stupidity and power hungriness of the left.  Right now, the Task Force on Childhood Obesity is laying the ground work for government to take over activities at private companies.  All for the sake of our children of course.

You mean the same children the left always claims to care about but who have essentially been sold into slavery to pay government debts these same liberals have racked up over the decades?  Oops.  I forgot.  It is not kosher to speak the truth about how the left really doesn't care about the children.

"We have a roadmap for implementing our plan across our government and across the country," First Lady Michelle Obama proudly said of the Task Force's report.  She added, "No one gets off the hook on this one from governments to schools, corporations to non-profits all the way down to families sitting around their dinner table."  So nice to know that Michelle is getting in on the power grab.  I guess asking where in the Constitution what I and my children eat is any of the federal government's damn business would once again be far too much to ask right?

The Task Force is urging the FCC to implement new rules that restrict the liberty of companies that have products the government deems to be unhealthy and prohibit their ability to advertise.  But if you are a company in the government's good graces that has a "healthy" product to sell to kids well, you will get a pass.  Boy, that sort of sounds once again like the whole light bulb fiasco where certain companies get favored treatment now doesn't it?  Let's see, just recently the government was shown to be totally incompetent in giving out its Energy Star rating even going so far as to label a fictitious gas powered alarm clock as "energy efficient."  How much faith do you have in the government to determine what foods are and are not healthy?  I can see it now!  Carrot farmers run afoul of Lord Obama and have their products deemed unhealthy but McDonalds renames their Big Mac as the "Super Healthy Good For You To Eat Three Meals A Day" Burger and blamo; instant certification as "healthy"!

In order to soften the totalitarian tone of this proposal Jon Leibowitz, Federal Trade Commission Chairman, has said that the government regulating companies is, "certainly not where we want to start."  Well isn't that nice.  They don't want to regulate companies.  Just like Obama never wanted to take over GM right?  As is usual liberals never close the door on actually bringing the government hammer down on companies that don't fall in line and self-regulate at the behest of government.

On top of all this silliness you actually have the United States Justice Department arguing, seriously in a court of law in Iowa that, "There is no 'deeply rooted' historical tradition of unfettered access to foods of all kinds," in a dispute over milk.  Life?  Liberty?  Pursuit of happiness?  Wave bye-bye to those notions and principles.  And say hello to misery, servitude and pursuit of government power.

Listen, no sane person thinks that companies should get away with selling pesticide laced lead paint chip burgers to children through a marketing campaign featuring McChippy the happy clown who sings a cute little song about their yummy goodness and telling us that they harmless.  But no sane person thinks that the government should supplant the role of parents, even as dumb as some of them are, either.

Yet, judging by the results of the past few elections the number of sane people in America able to make reasoned judgments may have seriously dropped in recent years to the point where those of us that are sane are doomed to live under stupidity for the rest of our lives.  And who knows, with our new government health care system that may not be very long to suffer.
