Rewriting the Bible as if it were the health care bill

By Michael Moriarty
web posted October 19, 2009

Oh, they say they're Christian, that they're Progressive Catholic like the Vice-President, Joe Biden and Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi or they're Progressive Baptist like Bill Clinton … or Progressive  … uh … Protestant … like Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton … oh, these Progressive Christians … rewriting the Bible as if it were the health care bill … and, in both cases, making the "Public Option" their main objective.

Basically the public pption is the government as an increasingly, all-powerful god.

So aren't these so-called Progressive Christians just wearing God down, pulling away the authority invested in Him by the Holy Bible and replacing the Almighty God with the increasingly Almighty Federal Government?

Of course, they are.

Hmmm ... this strategy of the Progressive Movement, to wean people off of God, has been going on in America alone for at least one hundred years. Such organized atheism arose in western civilization over two hundred and twenty-five years ago, ever since the French Revolution.

It is Man's defiance of not only God … but even the thought of God's very existence.

The sleeziest and smarmiest of America's Progressive Know-it-alls are those who still claim to practice some form of Christianity.

A Progressive politician's claims to Christianity are the sugar-coating on a pill intended to make that politician more of a priestly sage. Note how much William Clinton has "styled"  his appearance, particularly his hair, after that of Rev. Billy Graham. This makes our leadership appear to be the opposite of atheists.

Such window-dressing is all intended to persuade you that complete obedience to government is the only possible road to heaven on earth.

Such a deception carries limitless powers of persuasion, even though it is clearly beyond even hypocrisy.

It would be safe to say that 50% of American Catholics engage in some form of abortion or simply "look the other way" when it happens among their parishioners. Biden and Pelosi are … uh … well, a diabolical form of Godsend to them, respectable examples of the increasingly powerful American Version of Roman Catholicism.

If you believe in God … or consider the possibility that He even exists … you must at least and increasingly see the Progressive Movement as mainly a cunning and serpentine seduction, a soft and cooing courtship to increasingly obvious forms of atheism.

With godlessness in ascendance and the honest Christians a growing minority, the very concept of God is an X Factor, the unknown … and an issue which the faithful must hold to with increasingly challenged tenacity … even in the face of souls like Dr. Strangelove who has learned to "love the bomb" … but without wanting to share it with men even crazier than he.

I began this editorial months ago but today its unfinished pages somehow popped back up again on my computer screen. These thoughts are even more applicable now than they were then.

We are presently into the comedy of the Obama administration attacking Fox News Channel in the same way the Nixon administration attacked the Washington Post and the New York Times, while at the same time the President is struggling about more troops in Afghanistan in the same way Dr. Henry Kissinger and Richard Nixon were struggling with Vietnam.

Now Dr. K admires Obama, actually thinks him the gateway to a "New World Order"!

So by all rights, the not-always-so-good Doctor should be in on those recent strategy sessions that still seem to be ignoring General McChrystal's recommendations for 40,000 more troops in Afghanistan.

Perhaps it's time to have Obama meet … "unconditionally" … Osama with bin Laden in Paris!! What Nixon should have done with Ho Chi Minh, right?

Or should a peace be bargained, as it was in the Seventies, with the Islamic equivalent of Mao Tse Tung, Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Letting Osama bin Laden remain in the heroic background as Ho Chi Minh did?

Then, of course, that would eventually mean Iran's two-million-man army might, as with North Vietnam, over-run Israel … and turn it back into a province of Palestine.

Yes, Progressive Catholics can not only rewrite the Bible like a health care bill but make Biblical history with even another destruction of an Israeli Jerusalem.

Even the oldest corners of History, despite Progressive efforts at rewriting everything, will keep repeating themselves, which, of course, means that even after being destroyed, Israel will rebuild itself.

Obama's seemingly unavoidable trips down paths already stumbled on in recent history by the likes of Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter, are being accompanied by shouts from the White House that Fox is not, indeed, proclaiming the historically obvious but, instead, is bent upon sabotaging any Democratic Presidency.

"Turn back!" is the most obvious and simplest interpretation of Conservative warnings about Obama's economic policies … but … oh well … if the Vice-President and the Secretary of State can rewrite the principles of their own Churches and if the President can openly belittle the American Constitution … along with the "true intentions" of Abraham Lincoln in the Civil War (See Time Magazine's 2007 issue with Lincoln on the cover) in order to "fundamentally change the United States of America" … then beyond the mistakes of Johnson, Nixon and Carter, President Barack Obama is proving himself the most intrepidly non-learning, perennial sophomore in the history of the Executive Estate's tonier membership.

Despite the Harvard degree and the recent Nobel Peace Prize, President Barack Obama is proving himself to be not only one of the dimmest bulbs on the White House Christmas tree, but the depth of his narcissistic pride is only akin to that of the mythical Icarus.

Tragically the number of human beings attached to the wings of this mind-numbing egoist can only be, in the final analysis, measured in the billions.

Does America deserve the price it will pay for buying the lies and hypocrisies of this bipartisan creation called Progressive America?

I personally think so because the cornerstone of a Progressive New World Order, with America involved as a … uh …  "consenting adult", was laid in place firmly by the 36 years of relatively silent acceptance of the Supreme Court's Roe v Wade decision legalizing abortion. It is as if the Dredd Scott decision legalizing slavery in the 1850's had stood unchallenged and that the inevitable Civil War over human equality had not been fought until the late 1890's.

Certainly slavery, like abortion, had gone on for multiple decades without being too forcefully challenged. Rather like drinking during Prohibition, it was intensely practiced in particular corners of the country. Unlike alcohol, though, slavery and abortion were a direct challenge to the meaning of the Declaration of Independence and the words "all men are created equal" with an "inalienable right to life"!

Odd how Prohibition lasted only a few years and both slavery and legalized abortion have hung on for decades.

However, as I'm pointing out, slavery and infanticide are as old as the Bible … which, to point out another obvious fact, cannot be rewritten as easily or furtively or conspiratorially as the present health care bill can. ESR
