Fire EPA's Christie Whitman! By Alan Caruba On June 4th headlines blared that "The Bush administration acknowledged for the first time that US greenhouse gas emissions will increase significantly over the next two decades, due mostly to human activities, but again rejected an international treaty to slow global warming." The next day the real story was buried in the back pages or went unreported.
This is a huge lie without any basis in real science. EPA Director, Christie Whitman, surely knows that this is not his administration's policy. Bush has vigorously and publicly rejected the global warming theory and any possibility of US participation in the UN Kyoto Treaty on Climate Control. It is time to fire EPA's Christie Whitman for failing to support the Bush administration's policies and for putting the nation in the position of having endorsed the view that human activity is causing global warming. That's what the EPA's "Climate Action Report 2002" does and it's on record with the United Nations. Most likely, this EPA end-run was orchestrated by the many Green Clintonistas who joined the agency during the years he tried to foist every lame, environmental fraud on this nation. The so-called scientists who work for the EPA must surely know the report's assertion that "Greenhouse gases are accumulating in the Earth's atmosphere as a result of human activities, causing global mean surface air temperatures and subsurface ocean temperatures to rise" is pure, unadulterated Horse Puckey. This, of course, has never stopped the EPA from lying like a rug on a whole range of environmental issues. This villainous agency is responsible for easily one third of all the federal laws and regulations on the books today and it has only taken them from 1970 to achieve this dubious legislative and regulatory overkill. The President needs to send a message by firing the former Governor of New Jersey whose appointment allowed her to flee the State in mid-term, leaving it mired in debt. On the day following the news of this latest pusillanimous, backdoor attempt to put the US in the global warming camp, the White House hastily announced that President Bush considered the report to be the product of governmental "bureaucracy", was skeptical of the report's conclusions, and, said Reuters, "is still opposed to an international accord to reduce heat-trapping emissions." Blaming the "bureaucrats" is probably accurate. If anyone is to blame, it's Director Whitman. She is so abysmally ignorant of environmental issues and science we might as well have a laboratory mouse running the agency. However, nothing, I repeat, nothing happens in Washington, DC, by accident. A lot of people inside and outside of government work very hard to achieve their particular agendas. Most certainly, the Greens have demonstrated tenacity in their efforts to enslave everyone with their Earth religion. For that reason, this issue is not closed. Now, the EPA has been caught trying to put something over on the White House. Global warming is one of the lynchpins of the Green agenda to undermine the economy of this and other industrialized nations, and it is still alive in the form of the UN treaty. The EPA had no business whatever issuing a report that confirms the greatest hoax of the last and now this new century. It is idiotic, if not criminal, that millions of taxpayer's dollars are being allocated to further "research" regarding global warming. Dr. Sallie Baliunas is one of the leading climatologists in the nation. Noting President Bush's rejection, a year ago, of the UN Kyoto Treaty, she recently pointed out that, "in the interim there has been no new science to cause the shift in viewpoint" reflected in the EPA report. Dr. Baliunas would use polite, proper scientific terms, but I will tell you plainly that the Kyoto Treaty is based on worthless computer "models" and supported by fictional "scenarios" of what might happen. Dr. Baliunas points out that the Kyoto Treaty, "at best would produce a 0.011 of a percentage point reduction in greenhouse gases and a negligible reduction in global temperature" according to the treaty's models that forecast the rising temperatures. You don't have to be a mathematical genius to figure out that 0.001 of a single percentage point hardly justifies billions of dollars of regulatory restrictions on all energy usage by the citizens of these United States. "All models forecast that the surface warming must follow from an unmistakable warming of the layer of air just above the surface. According to the precise and validated measurements, that bellwether layer of air shows no meaningful human-related global warming trends. Ergo, the surface warming recorded since the late 1970's cannot be caused by humans," says Dr. Baliunas. For those of you who either slept through science class or are part of the generation of Americans who passed through schools determined to teach environmental lies to you, let me explain that it is the SUN that controls most of the earth's climate. Additional factors included the oceans, the clouds, and volcanic activity around the globe. There simply isn't any credible scientific evidence that human activity has any impact on the climate. Drive your car, heat your home, watch television, get out on your boat, enjoy your motorcycle or snowmobile, mow your lawn, et cetera! The EPA has now issued a report saying that you are personally responsible for global warming. The truth is that the earth has been warming for about 12,000 years and, if it wasn't, there would be a glacier sitting where New York City can be found. The long, natural warming cycle accounts for the rise of human civilization. A bit more warming would provide longer growing seasons for food crops and forests. The truth is the earth has not warmed dramatically for the past half century and, prior to that, experienced a perfectly normal fluctuation of about one degree Fahrenheit between 1850 and 1950. That's what the earth does and what it has been doing for 5.4 billion years. Alan Caruba is the founder of The National Anxiety Center, a clearinghouse
