America's Haunting Divinities V

By Michael Moriarty
web posted November 15, 2010

A New York Philharmonic, 1960 recording of the Symphonic Suite for the film On The Waterfront strikes me as pure Bernstein since he, as composer, is also conducting.

Why?

The tender prelude, behind a photo of Marlon Brando as Terry Malloy, is merely the introduction to a truly frightening explosion of percussive power to convey the violent and homicidal disease lurking within the powers of the waterfront.

If you can, please insert this musical link into your finder and, perhaps, you can hear the score of On The Waterfront as you read this. The flutes trumpets, woodwinds and harp of the introduction? Their gentleness makes you all the more vulnerable to the ruthlessness that erupts, driving you into a subterranean world of corruption and violence within a waterfront labor union.

The tympani enter so savagely that they are reminiscent of Bernstein's version of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. And at the intensely driving tempo required! Dangerous!! One adjective one must always apply to Bernstein's conducting and composing skills is "dangerous".

The incipient and violent universe of SEIU-like labor machinations is contained in the explosively rendered 1960 recording. The photos accompanying the 1960 tribute, place the other major soul ingredient of On The Waterfront at center stage.

Marlon Brando.

Brando and Bernstein.

Plus the indispensible genius of Elia Kazan and Bud Schulberg.

What a combination!

The photo accompanying the savage evocation of violence and murder by labor union bosses has us sitting on a pier looking out over Manhattan as if in some distant dream.

On the WaterfrontEventually we confront the photo of Brando, Eva Marie Saint, the young disciple of Brando's Terry Malloy and … well … The Pigeon! And then the heroic pigeon of On The Waterfront himself: Marlon Brando.

Some pigeon, eh?

Brando, at one time, had become the virtual hero of the Left-obsessed "enlightened elite" of the American performing arts, from Bernstein to Lee Strasberg, the Actors Studio to Hollywood's surrender to that greatest of Progressive Nightmares, President Barack Hussein Obama, whose favorite film is The Godfather, starring guess who?

Yet Elia Kazan's On The Waterfront  tried to warn us about labor leaders, such as President Obama's dear friend, Andy Stern of AEIU.

Yet that image of director Elia Kazan's little quartet of simple goodness: Brando, Ms. Saint, The Boy and The Pigeon? All four are now more at risk than ever before. Why? Johnny Friendly and the Bosses are now more powerful in America than they have ever been.

Almost prophetically, the exceptional 1960, Bernstein recording is ended on the internet in mid-suite. With the story of On The Waterfront clearly not completed by History either, Kazan's classic film is merely a faint glimpse of how Communist corruption in America might actually end up, not in the shabby, waterfront lair of a Brooklyn labor boss, but in the White House.

Is it any wonder that the President's favorite film is The Godfather? Who is here now to face down the likes of Johnny Friendly and his own bosses? Who can call a halt to the greed of Andy Stern? For now, at any rate, the Federal Government has taken an interest in Andy Stern's rise to power. Gee, with Eric Holder as Attorney General of the United States, I wonder how long that investigation will last? As long as his investigation of the New Black Panthers?

Mysteriously perhaps, but with absolute certainty, our real, 24 hour watchdog has been our own version of Terry Malloy: Glenn Beck.
Marlon Brando Glenn Beck

Brando and Beck.

Preposterous!

Right?

Don Corleone and Peck's Bad Boy?

Here's the divine mystery of America, in fact, all of Life's most hauntingly divine ironies: "Guys" like Glenn Beck of Rodeo clown fame – rather like the history of Jimmy Stewart as an Air Force pilot in World War II – show more toughness than even the toughest gangsters in the world.

The lives of Jimmy Stewart and Glenn Beck certainly show more personal courage and patriotic sacrifice than that of Marlon Brando.

Even the revolutionary likes of Orson Welles humbles himself before a great American such as Jimmy Stewart, calling him a man who is "typical of all that America used to stand for."

Glenn Beck can fit that description in monumental marble, despite the vaudevillian style he seems so at home in.

After years of observation and over a year of obligatory research on the Obama Nation, loaded with mountains of evidence, Glenn Beck, in this week of November 11-13, 2010, finally made his case against George Soros

More importantly, who is the deeply consistent connection between Obama and the neo-Soviet Vladimir Putin?

George Soros.

Read Death of a Dissident by Alex Goldfarb and The Dissident's wife, Marina Litvinenko. If anything helped to seal Vladimir Putin's hold over Russia it was George Soros. He who would help "Socialists" rule the entire Free World! No one has come closer to ruling the entire world, including Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin and Mao. Their influence could cross neither the Atlantic nor the Pacific oceans. So George Soros couldn't be the lowly gangster, Labor boss, Johnny Friendly of On The Waterfront, could he?

No.

He's that wealthy owner of the entire Red Hook, waterfront business, living in finer surroundings than Brooklyn. However, his message is still Johnny Friendly's, "Alright, let's go to work for the Union bosses and a Marxist New World Order!"

"Let's co-opt the entire American Free Market!"

"Let's control the world financially."

"Let's turn Socialism … Marxism … and Leninism … let's transform them all into a set of offers that America and Americans just can't refuse!"

Remember the most famous scene in On The Waterfront?

Rod Steiger in On the WaterfrontWho is Rod Steiger?

Well, in the obvious sense, he is Terry Malloy's brother, Charlie.

In another and more important sense, Charlie Malloy is a Progressive Republican.

He knows the real game and The Monster he's obliged to feed before they're both driven to 437 River Street!

It is called the Progressive New World Order.

"I'll tell 'im that I couldn't find you …" says the Progressive Republican to the American.

Then handing his brother his Second Amendment rights, says, "Take this! Yer gonna need it."

With that reminder of the Godfather, watch Obama imitate Brando, not as Terry Malloy but as Don Corleone.

"Gentility … with savagery underneath it," describes the President in his admiration for the crème de la crème of the Cosa Nostra.

However, being an Ivy League graduate, Obama not only resembles the son of Don Corleone.

President Barack Hussein Obama is Michael Corleone. For the so-called Dreams From My Father, Barack Obama must claim his "territories".

The most horrific truth, however, is that Barack Obama has claimed the whole world and the entire "collective" of humanity as his own, personal "territory". "Because our individual salvation depends on collective salvation," said Democratic candidate Barack Obama.

This is the man that Time Magazine was selling us as possibly an inheritor of the Abraham Lincoln Legacy? Really?

With helpful promoters for Obama like Time, no wonder George Soros could so quietly outdo the likes of Stalin and Mao and conquer the United States by having his puppet made President of the United States.

If anything in this world is, as Obama describes it, "too big to fail", it is George Soros. Whatever it takes, ya know?

Marlon Brando in On the WaterfrontThis photo of Brando, the hero of all those laborers standing behind him with frightened but hopeful expectations?

Where does he lead them anyway?

Right into the clutches of the man commanding the door of the loading dock, George Soros.

Brando was a massively charismatic movie star and incontestably the world's greatest, American-born actor.

The photo above is just before Terry Malloy goes down to get his brains beaten out by the thugs of Johnny Friendly.

After the beating?

There's George Soros telling all of us, "Alright, let's go to work!"

Go to work for him and his friends and the union bosses like Andy Stern and their dream of a Marxist New World Order?!

No, few of us are as wealthy as George Soros or as handsomely charismatic as Marlon Brando. However, Abraham Lincoln had this to ask and say about "ordinary-looking people"

"Why," he asked, "did God make so many ordinary-looking people?"

"Because," he replied to himself, "God prefers ordinary-looking people."

It is the ordinary-looking people that God will ultimately protect from the extraordinarily wealthy, powerful and/or irresistibly beautiful people that frequently seem to end up contemptuous of ordinary people. Enough of that kind of contempt and we begin to have retroactive abortions.

Since the bi-partisan Progressives have made abortion legal, how long will it be before we see retroactive abortion made commonplace by the Progressive New World Order?

A Progressive Holocaust?

Is it merely a coincidence that President Obama has proven himself to be no friend of Israel?

If you rerun the ending of On The Waterfront, don't forget how Johnny Friendly shouts warnings at us: "I'll remember every one of you! I'll be back! Don't you forget that!! "

He, Andy Stern, Barack Obama and George Soros have certainly kept that promise!

However, it hasn't stopped a "Good Guy", Glenn Beck, from telling the truth about them.

Like Terry Malloy, Beck came before the cameras and the court of America this week to testify to what he knows for certain about George Soros.

God Bless Terry Malloy!

God bless the director of On The Waterfront, Elia Kazan, for testifying before the House Un-American Activities Committee!

God bless Glenn Beck!

God bless America!! ESR
